"Chris and Helen Pellant began writing books together in the 1980s, and have written a number of earth science books, this being their twelfth. They also run their own photographic library (www.picsandwords.com) and manage Biophoto Associates (www.biophoto-associates.com). They are keen conservationists, studying and recording plants, lepidoptera and marine life. They live in an old farmhouse in North Yorkshire with their six cats." from www.nhbs.com

This book provides a fun and easy way to learn about rocks, fossils, and how they are formed and erode.

I like that it gives little definitions at the bottom. It goes over the 3 types of rocks and how they are made, as well as topics on lava and magma and different types of crystals. The pictures they use are photographs and properly show the type of fossil or rock being discussed. It's very informal despite the short sentences, and I find that it is perfect for a lesson on geology. It even has little projects at the back where a student could make their own fossils or start a rock collection.… (plus d'informations)

Interesting in its own right, and useful as a /Dwarf Fortress/ strategy guide.

I am always very fascinated by rocks and fossils so this book was very fun to read. I would have it in my classroom as a great resource book or definitely put it in my personal class library in case a student of mine wanted to know more about rocks.
