The Solar Resource Group is a unit of the Supply and Delivery Panel of the Committee on Nuclear and Alternative Energy Systems. It was formed to study the present and potential use in the United States of the renewable energy sources generally included under the term solar energy. In particular, the group was asked to estimate the likely energy costs and potential market penetrations of solar technologies under a variety of assumptions in order to allow for the inclusion of solar energy contributions in national energy models for the United States. These estimates include base scenarios of normal development of the solar market and special scenarios in which national policy dictates more rapid development of solar technologies. The group was not asked to assess the overall feasibility or consequences of these scenarios. Such an assessment, based on information from a variety of sources, is being done elsewhere in the CONAES study.… (plus d'informations)
