I'm not rating this book low because of the things that the author wrote about in her content warning, I'm rating it low because it bored me and didn't live up to what the author promised.

The mmc acted like a complete ass, but didn't redeem himself at all (and the fmc forgave him for basically no reason). Most of the book is the mmc keeping things from the fmc, lying to the fmc, spying on the fmc, doing things to the fmc without her consent, etc.

The main characters are also apart for most of the book. They don't have a scene together until 75%. The author wrote that "a large part of the story includes the main characters falling in love via written communication", but the book only shows a few emails and none of them are very deep.… (plus d'informations)

I read sci-fi romance, at least partly, because I like how different the characters and settings can be. Maybe post-apocalyptic Earth, or another planet that has challenges that the characters need to overcome, with beings that don't quite think like humans do.

This book fell flat when it comes to having a unique world or characters. The hero and his family looked different from humans, but their personalities and the world itself were very reminiscent of what is usually found in contemporary romance. The alien world was basically a gated community in the suburbs. The hero worked in finance and was a billionaire. They had cars, and parks for children to play in. Reading this book was like reading sci-fi lite.

As far as the actual story and characters go, they were fine. The mmc and fmc were sweet, the secondary characters were nice, the villain was a jerk. The main couple were almost instalove (although the fmc thought the mmc was scary-looking at first), but they did seem to get to know each other somewhat throughout the book.… (plus d'informations)

This book was an enjoyable story and can be read as a standalone book although after reading Burl & Lucy's story I have added the prequel His Human Runaway about Thorn & Mica to my TBR as well as the next book His Human Rebel about Rake and Stella. I enjoyed reading about all the characters introduced in this story and Lucy's cats were fun to read about as well, particularly how well Burl acted with them. I look forward to continuing to read about Flagstone Fire Ranch in the future.
