A great age appropriate introduction to biblical stories that kids love and can understand. It also prompts more discussion as we read on

I listened to this audio book of Children's New Testament bedtime stores with my 4 year old, and she absolutely LOVED them. They were stories that were just at her level, and with us listening together I could stop an explain any of them to her in real time. The narrator was great, and both my child and I really enjoyed listening to them.
While some Bible stories can be a little scary, I did not experience this with this collection of books. Great recording that we will listen to again and again.

As an audiobook, this was harder than normal to utilize with my kid, but we worked through it. One thing to be aware of is the way we interpret biblical stories, so this may need to be paired with conversations and deeper study for parents.

I enjoyed the conversations that came from this with my kid and we are continuing to digest and process a lot more.

What a great way to expand your knowledge about the bible! My family had an amazing time quizzing each other while more about the bible. There were a moderate range of questions. I don't feel like it was beyond what a 7-12 year old may know.

This book is a bit old for my kids so far but I did enjoy having some questions to ask them to ensure there is some level of comprehension ongoing when we read the stories. I'm excited to pull it out again when the kids get older

Great stories that my 2 and 4 year old daughters enjoyed listening to as I read them at bedtime. We liked being able to discuss the stories after we read them and learn more together.

This book is fantastic! My children and I read a story each night until the book was complete. I love the detail to historical documentation and keeping it in line with biblical doctrine and teaching. I recommend this book to anyone with children to help lead then in a spiritual upbringing and keep God in their life.

This is an excellent book for a specific type of readers. That's the family in which, if exposed to "The Bible Story" or "The Children's Bible" or a similar collection with gorgeous color pictures, a child will scribble on the pictures. Never despair! "Biblical Food for Kids" is here to help. Just print off a few copies of the simple coloring-book-type illustrations scattered through the book and let the scribbler develop hand coordination on them.

Other readers are likely to prefer other Bible story books for children, but because it's both a story book and a coloring book, this one stands out and would make a perfect gift for any occasion.

I was under the impression that there would be some type of discourse regarding the sections of the bible. However, if there was a study session and we used this for review and reflection this would pair up very well! The questions are simple and yet profound enough to understand the text and what the kids would be discussing with peers or adults. This was an easy read and easy to follow along with the Bible as well. Loved it and look forward to seeing similar ones like this as now I know how it is structured and I will be better prepared for it.

I decided to review this book as I have several family members in the age range recommended for this book. The children all said that they liked the voice of the narrator as it reminded them of a "teachers voice and was friendly." I think the narrator has the perfect voice for this audiobook. They liked listening to it. We also liked the bible stories and that the stories were short.
Overall I would recommend this book as I good way for children to be introduced to bible stories.

I appreciate what the author tried to do here -- the questions are thorough. But I thought this would be more like fun trivia, not a lesson to read and review. This style of didactic learning doesn't really fit our family or our educational choices, and ultimately, this isn't a book I'll be passing on to or sharing with my children.

I received this audiobook in exchange for an HONEST review. I have two children in the target age group for this audiobook (4 to 8 yrs old) so I thought I would give it a try. The stories were great and focused on Jesus' life. I didn't like that the stories were broken down into 2 minutes chunks (+/- a few seconds). My kids ready a lot and listen to audiobooks in the car all the time...they are used to listening to long narrations (1 to 2 hours or more at a time). These stories are broken down into these small chunks to be listened to one a day. Between each chunk of story, the narrator says ..."DAY 25", "DAY 56". It was a bit repetitious and got annoying after a while. Overall, my kids enjoyed the stories but they too mentioned they wished the stories were not broken down they way they were.½

This is a collection of stories and prayers to be read to children on a daily basis over 165 days. They cover New Testament events from the births of John the Baptist and Jesus through Paul's journey to Damascus.

They are well written and short. They should be easily understood by children between the ages of 4 and 8. The stories end with questions you might ask them to help them respond to what they have heard.

This is an excellent guide to help parents speak the blessings of the Word over their children before they go to sleep.

This book is a simple "read a passage and answer a few questions" style of Bible study. There's nothing wrong with that and it gives children the chance to look at Exodus in small increments. The disappointing part is that the questions are almost completely factual instead of diving deeper into meaning. Here's an example:

3. What color shall they use to make the priestly garment?
a. Red
b. Scarlet
c. Gold
d. Blue

Most of the questions fall into this factual category and while that does check to see if the quiz taker read the passage, it doesn't do much to study a deeper meaning. The title definitely made me think the study would hit a little deeper.

Not going to lie. When I first saw this and read the description provided in the Early Reviewer program, I thought this was going to be a cookbook. Like, a normal cookbook that would have recipes from the Bible, Holy Land, Egypt, Persia, etc. Let me first dispel your misconceptions if you thought the same. It is not.

This book also doesn't have a Nihil Obstat, if you're looking for that. IYKYK

All that being said, it was not a bad volume, and useful in the Theology lessons of our kids. I do worry, however, that, when all is said and done, that Tobit, Judith, Wisdom, Ecclesiasticus, Baruch, and First & Second Maccabees are going to be missing from the series.

My 9 and 11-year-old LOVED this audible. We would listen to several stories every night before bed and join each prayer. We would also listen to several stories throughout the morning to start our day. I would hear them share the stories with their grandparents.

We love how each story is short, comprehensible, and includes a prayer at the end. Each story also includes a question to discuss. That is a great time to share thinking and ideas. I recommend listening to it as a family.

I received an audiobook copy of Biblical Bedtime Stories in exchange for a review. Overall I love the concept of this book. My kids love to listen to audiobooks at bedtime and this fit the bill perfectly. The readers voice is a little too fake for me. She sounds overly excited and like she is talking to preschoolers. I also like the devotionals, but the prayer should be on the same day and I would love for them to be longer. Each devotional is only 2-4 minutes long and for a lower elementary audience a 15 minute devotional would be more appropriate. My kids listen to about 30 minutes of it a night, which is about 1/4 of the book.

This is a series of Bible stories for young children. Each story is about 350 words long. After a story is told it is followed by a little reflection and a short prayer.
In the audio version the stories are between 2 and 3 minutes.

The stories start with the creation and go through to Moses fleeing Egypt. The Bible is faithfully retold. Curiously, the story of Abraham being asked to sacrifice Isaac is missing.

The sentences are appropriately short, and complex situations are carefully handled.

Overall, this a wonderful resource for parents, or older children to read to their siblings. The production could be improved; some graphic design input would be great, as would more illustrations.

Disclosure: I received a free copy of this audio book via LibraryThing's Early Reviewers scheme.

This is a collection of stories, 87 from Genesis and 4 from the beginning of Exodus. Each story contains a prayer which links it to Jesus and/or the child's own life. The stories faithfully retell what was in the Bible.

I see parents using this book as a way to introduce their children to reading the Bible. Indeed, they may couple these stories with a reading of the actual verses from the Bible asking the child to compare them.

This is a great resource for devotions time with the kids. I think it might be helpful to combine the story and the prayer as one day as the kids get older, or as you decide to do so.

Fine for what it is, a little short for my taste, particularly for six to eight year olds. I also think it would be much better for the prayer to be on the day with the devotional. Combining the devotional and prayer takes it down to more like three months than six months, which is fine, although the introduction promises six months-worth.

Overall, I feel that this book is great for parents to read to their children. However, I feel that it should have been laid out differently. I would have enjoyed the book better if it had included the prayer with the reading rather than having it be read on a completely different day. I understand that the way a book is read is completely up to the discretion of the reader, however, I just felt that combining some of the stories and adding the prayer would have made the book flow a little better.

I got it as a PDF but I am disappointed that it doesn't show pictures as if its for children to view pictures while reading the bedtime stories about the bible. I love reading the bible stories.

This quiz book was amazing! My two children would quiz each other to see who would get the most correct. When one of them got the question wrong, they went back to the Bible to revisit the text. I love how this quiz booklet helped to motivate them to learn more about the Bible.
