Very accessible: short chapters with a consistent structure, requires no previous knowledge of African-American history or spirituals, suitable for ecumenical use. Could be used for Bible study, social justice discussion group, or integrated into prayer services.
It would be a great resource for a program designed to bring majority-black and majority-white Christian churches into Bible study together.
