A trio of tales based on the stories of Nathaniel Hawthorne ("Dr Heidegger's Experiment", "Rappaccini's Daughter" and "The House of the Seven Gables") each one featuring the peerless Vincent Price. The film is a touch slow and stagy, but director Sidney Salkow's work is still captivating, with his film imbued with plenty of style and an arch Gothic sensibility. There is a strong moral subtext to each of the tales with the script full of great lines for the actors to grapple with.
