Nate Crowley

I first found the writings of Nate Crowley via twitter, where he is @frogcroakley. It was his friend's birthday in January this year. Said friend complained about the lack of birthday wishes he had been receiving. Then, in Crowley's words: "After an initial flurry of birthday songs, I decided the sensible course of action was to keep celebrating Daniel's birthday every single day, until he wasn't sure what a birthday even was anymore." And then he wrote a book. It is not a terribly long book (around 150 pages). It's a bit Mieville, a bit Lovecraft, a bit like wading through a thesaurus drenched in blood, gore and zombies. But eminently readable. Gruesome and frequently horrifying, but riveting, and unfolding in a rich weird dystopian world. You only get a small taste of the world in this book though, which left me with the feeling there could have been a lot more book than there was.… (plus d'informations)
