I like how the recipes in this book feature ingredients that are most likely to be found present in everyone’s pantry. The emphasis on common, practical everyday ingredients, the lack of exotic spices in the ingredients lists, and the—for the most part—simple preparation make this a practical cookbook to add to your collection. Extraordinarily good recipes. We made one of her recipes each night the first week we had the book and they were all exceptional. We are still making them, just not every night. Highly recommend. I liked them as much -- if not better, for simplicity (though I actually have no problem with complicated recipes) -- as I like Half-Baked Harvest's recipes. Tyler Florence once named a cookbook of his Eat This Book. Ditto for the incomparable Melissa Clark’s cookbook. Not only are the recipes varied and appealing and not too fancy so they would scare a budding cook, but Ms. Clark is a wonderful writer- engaging and funny.
