Resilient leadership helps individuals, organizations, and even nations rebound from disaster. The leader who instills resilience is the leader who encourages us during crisis, when times are most troubled and when we doubt our own abilities. Resilient leadership inspires us to go places we would never have gone and to attempt things we never would have dared on our own. This book describes the six key principles of resilient leadership: following the moral compass of integrity, using the power of communication, optimism, and the self-fulfilling prophecy, taking responsibility for one's actions, building a resilient culture, and honing physical health as a competitive advantage. It then shows how they can be easily integrated into daily life, letting managers, friends, mentors, teachers, coaches, and even parents instill resilience. With this book, anyone, no matter what their role in life, can improve their ability to guide others through difficult times.… (plus d'informations)

"Resilient Leadership" is an excellent resource book. As has been stated there is not a great deal of new information contained in the book but it is presented concisely in a small and very well outlined package.

This book would be an excellent resource for young adults leaving High School and College environments. It is not so heavy as to discourage those with short attention spans but it is a good summary of necessary life leadership skills that they will be needing.

Every person in a leadership position (i.e. parent, manager, supervisor, husband, etc.) could benefit from reading over this short volume each year as a refresher course to remind them of techniques and truths that they have lost in the shuffle of life. ( )

An Optimist's dream! This book is a must have for anyone who needs to be motivated. It is well written and outlines what makes people succeed through even the most harsh circumstances. ( )

Interesting and timely topic though I felt the author's didn't do the topic justice. It reads as very formulaic from a style perspective which I found irritating. The content that is included is good and there are some interesting perspectives that are included. I felt like the chapter summaries introduced new material that wasn't covered earlier in the chapter. Much of the material is covered better in other classic leadership books. As others have mentioned this really didn't catch my interest and as a result I ended up skimming the last 25%. Good concept but follow-through was lacking. ( )

I'm about halfway through. However, as this was an Early Reviewer book, I don't want to wait any longer to add my review. Overall, I am enjoying the book and appreciating the reminders. In fact, that is one of the reasons I have not yet finished the book--I have been highlighting and commenting as I read for quick reference in the future.

As other reviewers have noted, I am not finding a great deal of new information here. However, the subject is certainly timely. For example, I highlighted the four steps to improved empathic communication:
1. Engage the other person
2. Listen carefully, not only to the words but also to delivery
3. Attempt to verbally identify the emotion behind the words
4. Summarize the content.
I've certainly heard this advice before. However, at the time I read that section, I was participating in meetings with employees to tell them they were being laid off. It was a good reminder to me recognize the emotion before I responded to the content when employees asked questions in the meetings and afterwards.

I am looking forward to completing the book. In fact, I hope to have it as the first book I complete in the Books off the Shelf challenge. ( )

This is a book that I recommend for managers in a high-pressure leadership position. The material is concise and well-organized. It walks you through the basics of resilient leadership, integrity, communication, being decisive and optimistic, perseverance and responsibility, building a culture and taking care of yourself. It is written using cases for each of the aspects I describe, exercises and quotes from famous leaders of the past.
This is not an exhaustive, deeply researched volume. It is meant to be a fast read and a quick reference afterward. i enjoyed reading it as I expect to enjoy picking it up again from time to time to have a look at. ( )

We begin this book by asserting that the essence of resilient leadership resides in two strategic elements: the courage to act boldly and decisively, while simultaneously acting with honesty.
