En el sótano se encuentra el triturador que aprovecha los huesos para hacer pienso: el Löschenkohl es una macabra metáfora del eterno ciclo de la vida y la muerte. Allí, el detective austriaco Brenner podrá comprobar de primera mano que el horror y la locura aparecen a menudo bajo una piel inofensiva y que no sólo los restos de pollo asado pasan por la trituradora… Brenner irá tropezando con un misterio tras otro sin llegar nunca a entender el caso del todo, pero como de costumbre conseguirá una sorprendente resolución. The second volume with the quirky detective Simon Brenner was a pleasurable read. This time, Brenner has to investigate in a restaurant where roast chicken are served. The junior boss called him, but she was not there when he arrived. Brenner learns many protagonists know and knows quickly that in the bone machine in the basement not only chicken bones, but also human bones were processed.
Brenner is required to find the culprit, which is not so easy. (

Gefiel mir besser als der Erste. Toller Krimi mit eigenwilligen Schreibstil, der anfangs etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig ist. (

Privatdetektiv Simon Brenner ermittelt in einem Grillhendellokal in der Steiermark: In der Knochenmühle werden Menschenknochen entdeckt. Mysteriös ist aber auch, dass immer mehr Menschen verschwinden.
Trotz des kurzweiligen Stils darf man sich beim Lesen nicht zu sehr ablenken lassen, denn am Ende sind auch vermeintliche Nebensächlichkeiten wichtig. Das Buch ist, wie alle Bücher von Wolf Haas, sprachlich sehr gelungen durch den zu Hochdeutsch verdichteten Dialekt und Umgangssprachenton.
Zitat: "Weil natürlich, die Natur ist da erbarmungslos. Zuerst ist der Mensch erbarmungslos, baut alles in die Natur hinein, was ihm einfällt, aber die Natur, auch nicht vornehm, wenn der Mensch kurz nicht hinschaut, ist schon wieder alles zugewachsen. Da sind wirklich zwei Brutale zusammengekommen, und tut mir keiner leid."
"Aber wenn du heute vor der Wahl stehst: Kopf ab oder einen flinken Sprung, dann machst du den flinken Sprung, 45 Jahre hin oder her." (
