A secret military mission takes a group of men through an Egyptian artifact known as the Stargate to an ancient civilization on the other side of the universe. Once there, they must battle the astoundingly powerful Sun God, Ra, before they can find their way home.
fulner: A far earlier version of a Stargate. Instead of ancient aliens, this is developed for all of man kind in the not too distant future, but how will high school students survive if the whole system goes down?

With Kurt Russell and James Spader, how bad could it be? Well... ... Pretty bad!
Formulaic plot with a little violence, a little FX and lots of pyrotechnics. Done better in 1885 in the H.R. Haggard book King Solomon's Mines (and let's not forget the inimitable movie version with Stuart Granger) as well as all those cheesy 30's horror-thriller movies like (The Mummy with Boris Karloff) that the baby boomers amongst us grew up watching.
