Stolen Fury
3.5 Stars

Archeologist, Lisa Maxwell, teams up with professional thief, Rafe Sullivan, in a search for three priceless relics known as the Furies. Unfortunately, Lisa and Rafe are not the only ones interested in the statues and they soon find themselves pitted against a relentless foe who will stop at nothing, even murder, to get what they want.

The story is a little slow at the outset but picks up in pace as the plot progresses and the final third is quite gripping. Nevertheless, there are one or two problematic writing issues. First, Naughton has a tendency to build up toward a climactic point at the end of a chapter but then fails to follow through immediately, which undermines the tension and suspense previously established. Second, there is a crucial inconsistency at the end of the book, which remains unexplained - how did Rafe know that Lisa would fall off the bridge into the water? Where did he conveniently find a boat to rescue her?

Lisa and Rafe’s love/hate relationship is sexy and snarky, and their romance is entertaining. That said, there is a point at the end of the book when Lisa’s behavior rubbed me the wrong way as she becomes indecisive and ungrateful. In fact, she transforms from an engaging and likable heroine into someone incapable of appreciating what is right in front of her. She does ultimately redeem herself but the damage is done.

In contrast, Rafe is an endearing hero who goes from strength to strength and is actually quite honorable despite his questionable profession.

Pete’s book is next and it is set in Egypt one of my favorite locales so I will definitely be continuing with the series. ( )

Naughton can sure weave a great story. Her details and discriptions make the scene unfold right around you. Both characters were strong and worked well together. They had great chemistry, and the action and suspense were just an added bonus.

I deducted half a star because, I thought the uncertainty of their love for each other went on a bit too long. I have had this book in my tbr pile for a while.. and I am glad I finally read it. I have the others in the series.. I plan on reading them too! :)

It was pretty great! It had that Indiana Jones feel to it, but with more sexy guys and way more heat thrown into it. Rafe and Lisa were great together and while they were by themselves. They were both really fast on their feet and their scenes together were pretty awesome too. I definitely recommend this book for those of you who want to read a fast and fun story with romance, humor and plenty of action too. ( )

A nice romance with a touch of suspense and History. A treasure hunter, a thief and several artifacts wanted by all... And all surrounded by a legend...definitly worth reading. ( )
