Vicky is just a 24 year old with a teenage sister trying to survive all on their own in New York until an eccentric lady with a little dog Smuckers gets convinced Vicky can read Smuckers' mind and after passing leaves her multi-billion cooperation to Smuckers with Vicky as his interpreter. His narcissist mother's last move upsets her son and company's CEO Henry and he is at first highly suspicious of Vicky and her motives. Vicky also has some skeletons in her closet. But the more time the two spend together, the more their guts tell them to trust each other, but can their guts win over their minds?

What a delightful discovery! One of the smartest and sweetest rom-coms I have read recently and the narrators are doing a damn good job 👏 Jason Clarke's voice makes your knees melt.

However, I enjoyed the first half of it much more than the second half. The second half and the ending were too predictable - there was, in my opinion, unnecessary 3rd Act Break Up and very cheesy Make Up. The escape to London seemed too unbelievable for me. This book is a mix of weird, quirky, and slightly disturbing.
1. It's mentioned 3 times that the FMC is Filipino. Why? I don't know, it's completely unnecessary in each context and feels so stilted.
2. The FMC mentions being against millionaires and billionaires early on in the book and you would think if she and the MMC don't get along then that would probably come up in an argument, but no, she doesn't mention it again that she thinks essentially that having a ton of money is unethical.
3. The MMC doesn't really have anything going for him. Like why did she like him the first time? He glared at everyone and had one running joke with the FMC (although he also deadpanned every time) and the second time around, he shuts her out all the time and forces her to live at his house (I'm coming back to that), is grumpy, and he's vaguely insulting until at some point they're just interested in each other?? And also he spent years thinking she'd come back to get the divorce and would realize how wrong she'd been to leave him because he has so much money and a beautiful house and blah blah blah, and at the same time he thinks she's totally self-centered and self-obsessed, but he still wants her to pay attention to him?? I don't even know.
4. Forcing her to stay at his house...he actually tells her she has to move in with him, but must stay out of these rooms and must go to these events or he won't sign her divorce papers so that she can leave the country on a ballet tour she's been dreaming of her whole life. I can't be the only one who thinks that's super problematic. She's literally being held hostage?? Like, I don't even have more to say about that.
5. Murder and attempted murder. Aaron didn't even need to be a character, and there definitely didn't need to be the extra drama of him trying to kill Benny and killing James.

The only thing I liked about this book was the cookie dough idea. The FMC says she loves cookie dough ice cream, but she really only likes the cookie dough, she doesn't love the ice cream, so when she finds plain cookie dough balls at the store she stops getting the ice cream. So her idea is to basically apply that to life. And ik it's a really basic idea to be like what parts of my life or of my job do I enjoy, and what parts do I put up with to have the cookie dough parts? And how can I do things so I have more cookie dough parts and less ice cream parts? But the cookie dough idea was not worth wasting my time on this book.… (plus d'informations)

She adored him, he adored her but something happened and then he wrote a Playbook for picking up girls and now he's a billionaire fashion icon. One of the girls finds his book and they start reading it and now ALL the girls hate him. She works for a sandwich delivery service that makes them wear kitty ears and he is on her delivery route. She decides that if she has to be humiliated like this, she's gonna use his playbook against him.....and thus the fun begins!

Grumpy/Sunshine with friends-enemies-lovers tropes and complete rom-com package.

Grumpy/Sunshine are married and she does not remember it at all! A hilarious rom-com of a story starts out when she finds out she's been married for 9 years to a guy she met and crushed on one summer while she was working a Vegas show. She hasn't seen nor heard from him since. So she goes to him to get a quick divorce, but...dun dun duuuun... he doesn't want to do it right away cause he needs a wife for his image at the moment. So they agree to be married for one more month and then he will let her go dance her heart out with her company on tour.

It's a fun read and, of course, has a good ending.
