This book has some amazing poems and illustrations. Many poems made me feel warm, comforted, and nostalgic. There is something special about the way she writes. I often found myself reflecting on different things and life in general after reading these poems. Such a great collection of poetry, I would recommend this to anyone.

A lovely introduction to Maya Angelou's poetry!

I knew I had to read this book when I saw it was Maya Angelou poems for young readers. Maya Angelou is one of my all-time favorite poets, and to be able to introduce her to children is amazing. This book includes some of her most famous work, "Still I Rise" and "Me and My Work". There are so many poems of hers that I would love to analyze, and I wish I would have been introduced to her at a younger age. The illustrations that go along with each poem are beautiful. I loved how each poem had an introduction to further the reader's experience with the poem they are about to read. I love the way this book was done. ( )

Loved this book! It was nice to read about a way of life that I don't have any experience of. The art was rich and colorful. I liked the introductions for the poems, and how definitions for some words were provided.
