"In 2017 Chris became the first person ever to SUP (Stand Up Paddle) across any ocean. Defying all odds, he paddled 4,660 miles solo, unassisted and unsupported, for 93 days across the Atlantic Ocean, from Morocco, Africa to Antigua in the Caribbean. During three months at sea he was targeted by a great white shark, towed by a giant sea squid, capsized multiple times and surfed down 10-meter waves as challenging as anything he had faced in any of Mavericks Big Wave Surfing Championships. Too many times he found himself hanging on the edge of his modified Stand-Up Paddleboard for dear life. He also become one with the elements, and ultimately succeeded to do something everyone said was simply impossible. This is the story of his incredible journey. This book will widen your horizons and your perceptions of your possible." - Seller website.… (plus d'informations)

All In! is Chris Bertish's 93 day voyage across the Atlantic Ocean by Stand Up Paddling. The book is an enjoyable quick read. The book is a combination of the personal story of Chris' record breaking Ocean crossing and a motivational story for readers.

I received this book as part of the LibraryThing Early Reviewers Program. ( )

It starts with two exclamation marks on the front cover and gets worse from there. A self published book which would have benefited greatly from some editing. It is subtitled "An inspiring story about grit, courage, passion and purpose!" I can't argue with the first three but I really didn't see any purpose in his adventures other than adventure for the sake of adventure. The main feat this book describes is his paddle across the Atlantic ocean. I didn't quite buy into it, as he truncated his journey at the first island he came across in the Carribbean. Mainland to mainland would have been much more impressive. The entire book just seemed shallow to me. Perhaps if it had been written better it would have been completely different, I think he made a mistake selp publishing. ( )

Review: All In by Chris Bertish---5* 10/08/2023

This was an Early Reviewer's Book. I'm so glad I received the Non-Fiction book I highly recommend it. I loved the adventure and I also got so much self-help information while reading the book. I believe the book could be listed in a Non-fiction Bio/Adventure category and a self-help category. I got so much comfort reading Bertish's comments as he told himself throughout the adventure so many good affirmations and insights. It was like I was there listening to his communication about the trip and how many times he got himself thinking positively.
I have talked positively to help myself get through the twists and turns that happened in life. It might not work every time but it's better than being down and depressed. I believe Bertish also has to push himself a little harder sometimes but he takes it in strides as I do. All his details about the sea, winds, storms, stand up paddling boat experiences, his confidence in himself, and I can't forget the little friends he met along the way that I also enjoyed. ( )
