Into The Fire is the first book in a new series for multi-published author Irene Hannon. Hannon has long been a go-to author for romantic suspense, and this book was a great choice for some adrenaline-laced reading! The book starts out with a bang as readers are introduced to an unknown bad guy with arson and murder on his mind. Following this thrilling prologue, main characters Bri, an arson investigator, and Marc, an ATF agent, are introduced. They are on the case of a fire that took the life of a well-respected retired arson inspector. Bri has doubts that the fire that caused his death was accidental — the mystery and suspense take off from there. I read a lot of suspense novels, and I found Hannon’s choice of subject matter and character occupations refreshing. The investigation is complicated by mishaps designed to distract Bri, but the two characters are very determined and professional. This is a romance too, so there are plenty of sparks (sorry, not sorry) between the main characters, even as they navigate baggage from their pasts. The danger ramps up quickly and the pace of the book accelerates, making this book a page turner! Hannon will keep you guessing as you question everyone’s actions and motives.

If you are looking for a romantic suspense that will keep you up past your bedtime 😉 , then Into The Fire should make your list.

Recommended.

Such an interesting book to read as it lets the reader peek into the intense and challenging world of fire investigators who look deeply into the bits and pieces left behind consuming fires and then decide if the fire is intentionally set by an arsonist or not. Then once it is determined that perhaps an arsonist is responsible, they find the criminal and see that the laws of the justice system take care of the misdeeds.

As Bri begins her new job, she inherits the left overs of a retiree who was captivated by a series of cold cases in the hot world of arson crimes. Nagging thoughts of connection between a series of fires unproven as arson but that might be arson by the same arsonist snag Bri's attention as well.

A series of events, mishaps, and relationships have Bri going deeper and deeper and unknowingly into the world of an arsonist and murderer with deep relationship mental issues.

Excitement. Drama. Budding romance. Great sibling relationships. Top notch team work. All these elements plus great descriptions and conversations beautifully word-smithed by the author, Irene Hannon, make this a must read.

Irene Hannon’s Undaunted Courage series starts with a bang (or maybe a whoosh is more apt since Bri is investigating a fire).

Hannon writes layered characters, and to get to know them all, readers must peel back all of their layers—this includes those of the villain. And Marc and Bri have lots of layers—some good, some bad—that make them fantastically flawed but also people we’ll root for.

Then there is a nice twist in Into the Fire that I didn’t see coming. I do like it when an author surprises me the way Hannon did in this story.

Here’s hoping that the next book in the series features on of Bri’s siblings, because I want to get to know them better, too. ( )

Great introduction to a new suspense series. Hannon is always a favorite, and never disappoints. ( )

It’s been a while since I’ve read Irene Hannon’s romantic suspense. Her books are always packed with suspense and action, fast-paced, easy to read, and filled with great characters. The author also includes the villain’s perspective, which adds another layer to the plot.
I enjoyed getting to know Bri and Marc. They are a dynamite couple - one a fire investigator and the other an ATF agent. Both have broken pasts that need healing and extending of forgiveness. Though they don’t actually reach this by the end of the book, they are works in progress, which is refreshing and startlingly honest.
It’s definitely an enjoyable book for those who love romantic suspense.
I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Revell via NetGalley and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own. ( )
