A map of flavors, aromas and evocations from across the European continent and beyond, Emily Szajda takes you on a culinary journey traversing borders. In this narrative cookbook, you will encounter healthy adaptations of traditional recipes from her travels and life abroad along with stories and takeaways on how food, the simple act of breaking bread, creates an experience. It has the power to tear down walls and create a space for conversation, understanding, and memory. Awaken your senses and relish the moment. From an afternoon tea with fresh baked scones and clotted cream at the St. James Hotel in London to a plate of delectable truffled risotto with osso bucco in Rome, food is not merely sustenance, a part of the human existence but an act of love and fellowship. Please be my guest. Learn how to have a soulful, interactive relationship with food that not only fills your belly but your heart and mind. Take time. Pull up a seat at my table. Let's eat!… (plus d'informations)

I received an e-book copy of this book through Early Reviewers. I enjoyed the travel descriptions and felt the recipes were ones I would want to make. I wanted to test some of the recipes. I made the Cottage Pie and the Braised Red Cabbage. Each recipe had small errors. The cottage pie had corn and peas in the ingredient list but was neither was mentioned in the directions. The yogurt wasn't listed in the assembly directions. I am an experienced cook so it didn't bother me but it might a beginner cook. The cottage pie was delicious and I will make again. The braised red cabbage had 2 apples in the ingredient list but nowhere did it say how they should be cut. I diced them. The recipe tasted good but I have a better one. There are a number of other recipes that I would like to try. I just wish the editing had been better.

I loved this book. It was awesome how it included international recipes and travel aspects. It inspired me to want to visit those places, and it placed an interesting perspective on how delightful it is to connect through food.

What better way to travel than to do it by your taste buds! I married a man who is by all rights a Chef, and this would be the way for He and I to travel. Since traveling through Europe is a bit out of the question at this time, using this cookbook, and reading these stories, is the next best thing! The Author did a great job at both of these tasks and I hope they do another from another continent soon!! ( )

An interesting blend of travel and food writing. The Austrian recipes brought back memories of the summer I studied in Graz during college.
