There are fifteen books in the Snowman Paul series, the latest of which is Summertime with Snowman Paul, by Yossi Lapid. Snowman Paul is a congenial snowman who gets along with everyone and enjoys a variety of experiences. However, he is stymied when it comes to summer. How can a snowman survive the oppressive, stifling heat of summer? Paul's issues with summer, as opposed to winter, spring, and fall, are vividly illustrated in the novel. Additionally, there are suggestions that other characters are taunting and harassing Paul for seeking to engage in entertaining and adventurous summertime activities. The rhymes are original, inventive and endearing in a way that will undoubtedly captivate and charm the youngest of child audiences. Children and adults will be enchanted and entranced by illustrator Joanna Pasek's delightful, colorful and fascinating drawings. It will definitely capture the minds of young readers and spark their imaginations. The plot takes a new and enjoyable turn of events as Paul's heat aversion is remedied with a skillfully devised technique, a diligent endeavor and an industrious undertaking. My 2-year-old granddaughter found the narrative to be interesting and followed it with ease. She empathized with Paul's frustration with the summer's heat, especially because she too hadn't been able to play outside because of it. She was upset and also expressed her outrage, claiming that teasing "was not kind!" She loved the story so much that she requested to hear it several times over the course of a few days. Little bit delights in the Snowman Paul stories and this one is her favorite, at least until the next one comes out! The book is good for beginning readers and recommended for children between the ages of 3 and 7. I feel younger kids would enjoy it too, as evidenced by my granddaughter's enjoyment. The children—and perhaps even the adults—will be pleased by the gift that is given at the end of the book. I received an advance review copy for free from BookSirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I have an affinity for snowman stories. This is absolutely delightful. The idea of a snowman wanting to hang around in the summer is wonderful. Paul loves Fall, Winter and Spring. However, as much as he wants to hangout in summer he just can't seem to fit in. Even an ape at the zoo laughs at him. His best friend Dan finds a way to help his snowman friend. The rhyming in this book is wonderful. I loved the fact the author used words like "chagrin". It is always a plus when authors don't dumb down books. I want to provide books for my grandchildren that will challenge them. This is an author I will definitely read again. Summertime with Snowman Paul by Yossi Lapid (Author), Joanna Pasek (Illustrator) When I first saw the title I thought to myself, there is NO way Paul will survive the summer heat. Author pulls it off, in style. Colorful, children's rhyimg story about Snowman Paul and how he adapts to fit in. This story starts out with Snowman Paul and he adjusts to the situation and has fun at it. He knows how to fit in. He fits into every season but summer because being a snowman he will melt in the warm weather. He needs a plan to stay cool during the time. Dan has a solution and Paul listens to him... amazing and it was so easy to pull off! Extra offer of coloring pages. Other works by the author are highlighted at the end. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Yossi Lapid is easily my favourite children's picture book author and Snowman Paul is one of my faves series!
This book brings Snowman Paul into the worst season for a snowman... Summer. Luckily for Snowman Paul, his buddy Dan has his back. Summer might be a melty season for snowmen, and definitely a time where they feel like they don't fit in, but Dan wants to help make his friend comfortable. Through problem solving and working together, they find an incredible way to make Snowman Paul feel comfortable during a tough weather month. Make sure you add this excellent Snowman Paul children's picture book to you library ASAP! Oh, and read all of the others because they are worth a peek too.
Five out of five stars.
