This was an exciting story. At times I was biting my nails while reading, the action got so powerful. There we too many things crammed in one book in my honest opinion. And I got a little tired of reading how the bad guy was 'the blonde man' or 'the younger man' in every other page. Now that I'm more familiar with these characters I still don't like any of them. But it's always good to get some kind of reaction from the reader. I'm sure this book will stay with me for a long time.

This novel created a great concept around a psycho serial killer and the thrilling of a detective male victim with a past that he just recalled while trying to overcome the trauma, but found himself being trapped in the same web again, A cop that felt powerless against a serial killer he once babysat in his past. His own sister suspects him a child molester broke his heart as he tried to mend his relationship with his family and the time that he had lost. The concept and characters were well developed and well written. This thriller and suspense was killing me to the point that I had to find out how the story ended before I did anything else! ( )

The Mask of Midnight is an extremely suspenseful, fast-paced and well-written thriller! I quickly felt connected to the characters that are described in detail. The author, Steven Laurie, also paid a great deal of attention to be accurate on legal and forensic details. One of the best thrillers I have read lately, and certainly not the last I will be reading from the Gabriel McRay series! ( )

This is a great read. From the very first page I was drawn into the story and the characters. This is I can't put it down book until you find out what happens. I will be reading more of the Gabriel McRay novels. ( )
