This book follows a group of young adults as they grow together as a team in a world of magic, demons, and a special group of souls that come back to inhabit 5 people each lifetime to create a special group that can fight the demons who want to rule the world. Sounds like a familiar plot but this story is so much more. Very good character development including the nuances of having to deal with a second soul in the same body speaking to you, helping or hindering your actions and interactions in various ways. This young group has to grow in their abilities, learn how to use and interact with their second souls, and deal with loss. The old mentors are also done very well as characters in this story. All in all a very good read that covers a lot of story before it finishes making you want to have the second book to continue the next chapter. ( )
