Cute story about a little bee who ventures from the hive for the first time. She must overcome her fear and find a flower. She gets help from some other creatures along the way but, also runs into a little trouble. Great growth mindset story. Also a nice introduction to the life of bees. However, a queen bee would not have left the hive and Little Bee would not be a "She" but a Worker Bee. ( )

I read this to my grandson and it was a perfect read for him. Nicely illustrated too. ( )

This was a sweet book. To me it felt more like a “parent” book than a book for a teacher (which is what I am!) but I enjoyed it anyway:)

I "tested" this book with my kindergarten students and they enjoyed the simplicity of the story and "finding" out what happened. Here are some of their comments: liked that little bee finally found the flower; liked all the colors in the illustrations; didn't like how the little boy was stung; and they enjoyed that Little Bee asked questions. This is an enjoyable little book which engages students and encourages them to ask questions too.

First, I loved the illustrations! I can see so many uses for this book…it is informational about bees, and I really enjoyed the facts in the back. I had no idea a group of ladybugs was called a loveliness. I like the lesson of not being afraid to ask questions, as well as self-directed learning.

I was a little confused at the end…I thought the bee may have died when it got slapped? And when the queen showed up, I had to reread. Especially after reading the notes that said the queen doesn’t leave the hive…wish this would’ve stayed consistent in the story. Regardless, will add to my class library!
