Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. The plot is not well developed and there are so many characters that are connected in varied ways. Huh??? Say what?!?!? Thought I had missed something along the way, but no — the “twists” were ridiculously convoluted, landing this book squarely in Crazy Land. And what can I say about poor dumb Cassie? She was so annoying I couldn’t feel any sympathy for her. Only reason I finished this one was because I wanted to see how the author would resolve this hot mess. Guess what? All she did was throw us an absurd far-fetched ending. And I hate when characters playing pivotal roles suddenly pop up near the end of the book. I’m glad so many liked “No Bad Deed” because we need to encourage new authors, but this one definitely wasn’t for me. The title of this book says it all! A bad deed—the attempted murder of an innocent woman—is followed by a good deed when Cassie impulsively stops alongside a dark and rainy road to see if she can help. But don't think for a second that her selfless act will go unpunished. She's in for a dangerous cat-and-mouse game with a psycho killer, and her wits and grit will be put to the ultimate test as the complicated story unfolds. No Bad Deed" is the definition of what a thriller should be - fast-paced, keeps you guessing, and makes you want to keep reading. I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and pace, and the twists were good enough to not be completely out of left field. There is some dark subject matter but it was weaved into the story well enough to not be overly dark. The author did a great job crafting the story and keeping the narrator "reliable" which is far too rare in thrillers today. Looking forward to more from Heather Chavez.
