Zander’s sometimes hippie friend, Fats, had quite a story from his past. He hadn’t really shared it with anyone, but now the reader finds out where he came from and what has happened to him. It may explain why he and his best friend Zander have a kindred relationship. Being born and raised in Montana answers some of the questions about why Fats is comfortable in his Frasier mountain setting. His past has been filled with unanswered dreams and a feeling of hopelessness. Stupid decisions and his growing need to be with the opposite sex leads him into uncharted adventures. Those adventures are the reason Fats has the same damaged personality as his friend Zander. Fats had no plan to be involved with a woman who would eventually need to be eliminated. It may not have been the smartest relationship.
