Mentioned in a blog post at https://booksbeyondbinaries.blog/2020/07/20/chapter-books-whats-good/ (July 20th release) The Peachey Family needs help and it's McTavish the shelter dog to the rescue. Ma Peachey is fed up so she decides to vacate her responsibilities as a mom and take up yoga. Simply put, things are falling apart without her! Amidst the chaos, the family adopts McTavish, a wise shelter dog who helps them get back on track. This book is a short, sweet chapter book for elementary readers that would probably be best for grades 2-5. Meg Rosoff writes with dry wit in this light-hearted book that leaves the reader chuckling. In addition, it's the first selection in a series called The McTavish Stories and will likely have kids wanting to check back in with McTavish and the Peachey Family! This book could make a nice read aloud or book club choice for elementary kids. Appartient à la sérieMcTavish Stories (1) Prix et récompensesListes notables

HTML: A dog with a plan adopts a chaotic family in a wry comedy extolling the virtues of common sense. When Ma Peachey takes up yoga, the rest of the family finds themselves abandoned to chaos: no one cooks dinner, no one picks up the dirty laundry, the children are always late for school, and there is a good deal of squabbling and squalor. Ma may be off finding inner peace, but irritable Pa Peachey, glum Ava, and wannabe girl-charmer Ollie are falling apart. Only Betty, the sensible youngest child, is wise enough to see that this family is in need of rescue. Enter McTavish, a rescue dog who, true to his mission, is ready to teach this family some new tricks. Getting the Peacheys to behave will take work, but if anyone can do it, McTavish can. After all, he's a very good dog â?? maybe even a psychological mastermind! Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |

It's a quirky little book with a good bit of humor - but also some rather mature themes. Daughter Ava accuses Pa of being a sociopath and there is talk of Ma running off to India to find inner peace with a young, handsome yoga enthusiast. But all turns out well in the end.
