This text is an interesting addition to my gifted education library. When evaluated lesson-by-lesson, the book is compelling and engaging, and I cannot wait to try some of these lessons next year. Viewed as a curriculum, however, the book is a little overwhelming. I love the inclusion of worksheets to save a little bit of unnecessary labor on the part of the busy teacher! I sometimes struggle to find things that will help my daughter who is so often bored with curriculum for her age. Thanks for all these very helpful learning tools! Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. I have used the lessons in this book one-on-one with my daughter during homeschool. Although I think it would work better with a small group, everything can be adapted easily for one-on-one lessons. The lessons are fun and engaging and provide great opportunities for discussion about developing the character to become a good leader, which I believe is primary point to any leadership course. Lessons are a good length and the worksheets included are well-designed. I will likely use this text with a small group this next fall, which I think should go very well. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. This book is an excellent resource for teaching kids leadership skills. It is laid out in a simple format over 40 lessons and includes activities for every lesson. I believe some more in depth narrative guidance would be helpful for the teacher, especially for youth group leaders, homeschool moms, etc. who have never had formal leadership training, so they are not familiar with the lingo or exactly where the discussions should be going. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. I found this to be a great resource for cultivating leadership skills in students. The breakdown of leadership styles is very helpful. The lesson plans are easy to understand and offer a good variety of activities to interest a wide range of students. The activities are too advanced for students in the early grades, but as a kindergarten teacher I did get some ideas that would be useful in my classroom. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
Gifted students may possess the seeds of gifted leadership or may be expected to lead because of their intellectual capacities. And, as with any potentiality, leadership ability should be developed. This book looks beyond current definitions and examples of leadership to offer a framework within which to cultivate skills and abilities of leaders for this millennium. The curriculum nurtures leadership potential in elementary gifted learners through mini-lessons and activities that are structured around the four leadership frames developed by Bolman and Deal, researchers in organizational leadership. Gifted leaders may or may not be born. But they definitely can be fostered. Grades 3-6 Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
