From rampage killers to hunters that seek out human prey in the shadows of the night, this serial killer anthology is a collection of horror stories. Collectively these men were responsible for hundreds of deaths, and they all belong in the realm of the worst serial killers to date. Delve into eight different cases and explore the heinous deeds committed, the background of each killer, and the apparent motives for their crimes. There are those who went on deadly rampages, such as Cho Seung-Hui and George Hennard; men who decided to inflict as much terror in one day as they possibly could. Famous serial killers are included, such as the Hillside Stranglers, Kenneth Bianchi and Angelo Buono, and the Beast of the Ukraine, Anatoly Onoprienko. There are also lesser known murderers such as Fritz Haarmann and Ronald Dominique, who preyed on young men for their own deviant pleasures. Each of these true murder stories will leave you with a sense of horror and perhaps a little fear. David Parker Ray's surviving victims still live in fear today, and this notorious true crime story is one of the most sadistic and disturbing. With tales of torture, mind control and violence, very few survived their time in Ray's toy box. The true crime stories in this book have been selected because of the horrendous nature of their actions and the sheer volume of victims they slaughtered. Innocent people, going about their daily business or asleep in their beds, all make up these serial killers true crime stories.… (plus d'informations)

I find myself truly fascinated by the stories presented by Jack Rosewood in these books. My biggest complaint is that the format they are written in is a bit repetitive. They have a potential of being better by cutting the fluff and the story once. ( )

If you like true crime stories this is the documentary read for you. 8 serial killers young and old (stories) in a short (4hour) listen. The Audible version is a great listen and the musical additions to break up the stories add to the mystery and shock of the cases.
I was provided with an Audible version of this book for my honest review through LibraryThing giveaways. ( )

This was a very interesting read...to get the background of serial killers, finding out that some actually reached out for help and got nothing or others around the killer expressed concern prior to their sprees and nothing happened, learning of those who suffered from these sprees - those killed, the family of those killed, and the survivors was infuriating and utterly heartbreaking.

Although this audiobook was presented as factual, the inclusion of pieces of the killers' writings, recordings and transcripts from videos was fascinating. I appreciated the reading done by the narrator; it wasn't monotonous as some narrators can be when reading non-fiction material. The narrator made the listening enjoyable, considering the content. Another great book from Jack Rosewood. This one is about serial killers, internationally as well as here in the US. It was well-written and well researched, with a lot of details, including each victim, and the motives. He also included quite a bit of the psychology behind each killer. One chapter is about David Ray Parker, a sadistic sexual serial killer that includes recordings by this killer. It is bone chilling, to say the least. Some of the killers were lesser known, such as Fritz Haarmann (who I had never heard of myself). I found the book to be very interesting, and I read it in one sitting. I just could not put it down. If you are a fan of reading about serial killers you will find this to be a different take. The book includes some killers you have read about but some that you have never heard about. The book is rather clinical in that it lists all the victims of these killers. The author gives some insight into the killers reasons in a short synopsis and leaves you with the feeling that if you want to really know more then you need to explore these individuals on your own. No thanks. ( )
