Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. It's well written but I just felt so lost reading it. I could barely make sense of it. It's book 2 in the Blank Slate series and you are made to feel at a disadvantage if you hadn't read book one. ( )Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. I received this ARC from Library Thing for an honest review.I liked the book, but not having read the first book, Genesis Girl" I was confused on things at times. I would recommend you read the books in order. A good read. I am going to go back and read the first book and then reread. Society today relies heavily on social media for information, staying in touch with friends and research. There also seems a trend to rely on one's cellular phone for storage of sensitive information like bank information and passwords. With these current trends in mind, Ms.Barnsley writes about the main character Blanca navigates in such a world. Blanca's character is still trying to learn to live in the world of social media. The people around her, makes Blanca question everything about her life. In the end, Blanca triumphs. After reading this novel, we should all question how much social media impacts our privacy and lives. This book is not easy to read due to the introduction of new ideas. However, it does make one think differently of social media. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. I received this book in return for an honest review from Library Thing. This is the second book in Jennifer Bardsley's books about a Vestal named Blanca who has been cloistered all he life from the outside world and all technology. They have always been told that technology is evil and takes us away from our life and loved ones. This book picks up after Blanca has left the Vestals and her cuff behind for love with someone who she shouldn't be with, a virus named Seth. She is beginning to find that she can think for herself and doesn't have to be the person that she has been taught to be her whole life. She finds out that the person who started the Vestals was her father and he was an evil person that made the life of everyone around him hell.Blanca learns that the person that was the leader of the Tabula Rasa was actually her mother and she learns that she now owns the school and a private island. The FBI is investigating the Tabula Rasa and what goes on there and accusations of abuse. Blanca is very unwilling at first to help them but after he friends go missing she goes to them and tells them everything so they will help her find her friends. This book really makes you think about the hold that technology has on the world and how maybe we don't need all this around us at all times. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I hope that she continues with the story. **I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affected my opinion of the book or my review. ** I really liked Damaged Goods the second book to Genesis Girl. The story continues with Blanca, the former Vestal whom lived her entire life secluded in Tabula Rasa. For she never had her picture taken, she was virtually untraceable, a pure person so to say. In the last book she was auctioned off to Cal McNeal and was also abducted by her birth mother Ms.Lydia and her birth father the renowed leader and founder Barbelo Nemo. Both her parents were killed Ms.Lydia right shot in front of her and Barbelo by her friend Beau another Vestal whom was also being held captive. Now Blanca is a former Vestal and de-cuffed, expelled from her brotheren. Blanca is also the most famous Vestal in history, besides her biological father Berbelo. She is also known for riding her all white motorcycle through town and definitely gets noticed. When the FBI starts questioning her about a former "friend" named Keung who is a Guardian. She says nothing, because her training and her experience says to trust no one. Cal and her boyfriend Seth (who is Cal's son) say she needs to get out and talk and meet people but Blanca still doesn't trust it and prefers to stay home. But Cal made her an appointment with a therapist anyways. All the while Blanca still doesn't trust people and starts getting notes of Vestal quotes. After a photo shoot she reconnects with Keung and he states that her boyfriend Seth should get his fingerchips removed. But Blanca still is the type to not trust people and does say something to Seth, but he pretty much puts it off as it as her being a Vestal and it leads to them breaking up. After an impromptu vacation to an island that Blanca just found out that she owned, she was able to see her best friend Fatima get married. And was really able to think about things, she even wore a purple bikini that was her mothers. On this trip Blanca wore a purple bikini and really thought about things. On the trip back home Seth went to use his fingerchips and screamed out in pain. It sent fire all the way up his arms and was burning him, so they had to cut them out and the plane crashed. Blanca heard a foreign language playing and decided they had to go to the FBI. Blanca really can do anything because she is a survivor and she had good judgement..at times. But the rest of the story is up to you to read, because it really is a doozy! And I really don't want to ruin it for you! Jennifer Bardsley really makes you think about the everyday technology and how we are so wrapped up in it. That people should pay more attention to things around them and not the the phones in their hands. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
