So sweet. Cupid and Blitz were best friends who finally realized that they had feelings for each other. This had low to no angst despite a couple of challenges, and it was super sweet overall. I really enjoyed this and am excited to see that Calder will get a book.

My “annual visit” to North Pole City and Winter Wonderland with all their fascinating inhabitants is one I look forward to. The North Pole is run like a modern company, the Rein Dear are a group of nine elite pilots in charge of the annual Big Flight, Mayor Kringle (the spirit of Christmas) is in charge, and the Frost family (spirits of winter of various talents) provides a hint of royalty and mystery in the neighboring Winter Wonderland. After last year’s adventure, where Rudy saved Jack Frost from a broken heart, I was curious to find out whose turn it would be this year to pair up. The story's focus is on Cupid and Blitz, both Rein Dear pilots.

Cupid and Blitz have been best friends for centuries, but when they kiss at the Frost King’s winter ball, something begins to change. There is only one problem: Cupid has a secret none of his friends know about, and it could endanger everything he has worked for since entering the Rein Dear Academy. Fear of this secret ruining his life, Cupid doesn’t say a thing when things begin to heat up between him and Blitz as they go on a quest to find the fabled Elska rose for Rudy.

Blitz is not good with expressing his feelings, but he feels drawn to Cupid, always has, and begins to understand it may be more than friendship. The initial shock when he finds out the truth added to fighting the evil that threatens all of them makes the other Rein Dears withdraw – but not Blitz. I was impressed with the level of trust he has and his determination to make things work.

Cupid and Blitz’s adventure is exciting and adds some more interesting facts to the North Pole City world. A few hints as to who might be next year’s couple have me eagerly awaiting next December! If you like this fantasy world, if best friends discovering they mean more to each other than they thought is your thing, and if you're looking for a read that is adventurous, romantic, and comes with a few surprises, then you will probably like this latest novella in the series.
