The writing style of these stories is very unique and very refreshing. I enjoyed "Swordpoint" more than "Privilege" but would recommend both. ( ) A compilation of two novels - Swordspoint and The Privilege of the Sword. Swordspoint - This is Kushners debut novel and she has woven a remarkable story in a highly woven world where aristocrats living in fine mansions on the Hill settle their differences by sending to the thieves' den of Riverside for swordsmen who will fight to the death for a point of someone else's honor. Two of the main characters are men, and they are lovers. They live in a society where homosexual relationships are not particularly frowned upon. But this novel isn't about sex and unless you are entirely put off by this notion it shouldn't have any bearing on your enjoyment. The plot, pacing, and characterization are all first-rate. Intelligent without being impenetrable, arch without being sly, adult without being boring, and humorous without resorting to slapstick, Swordspoint strikes an incredible balance between action and intrigue, adventure and romance. The Privilege of the Sword - This novel features many of the same characters from Swordspoint. The deliciously wicked, biting dialogue and impossibly twisted situations. The repartee and swordsplay make this book indulgent fun! Although The Fall Of The Kings was released before TPOTS, TPOTS is chronologically the sequel to Swaordspoint. I would recommend moving on to TFOTK after these first two. Disregard publish dates. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
