With her Seven Brides for Seven Cowboys series, Lizbeth Selvig has created story lines that are uplifting, entertaining and compelling. I have had the pleasure of reading The Bride Wore Denim (#1) and The Bride Wore Red Boots(#2). Ms. Selvig has centered these stories around two women that to the outside world appear sure of themselves and focused. Yet underneath it all are the normal human flaws. Insecurities, unhappiness, and longing for something more. A visit home proves to be just the medicine. It opens up new opportunities in life and love. I received an ARC of The Bride Wore Red Boots in exchange for an honest review. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Dr. Amelia Crockett's life was going exactly the way she had always planned--until one day it wasn't. When Mia's career plans are shattered, the always-in-control surgeon has no choice but to head home to Paradise Ranch and her five younger sisters, cowboy boots in tow, to figure out how to get her life back on track. The appearance of a frustrating, but oh-so-sexy, former soldier, however, turns into exactly the kind of distraction she can't afford. Even though Mia can't stand the sight of him, Gabriel Harrison has never returned the sentiment. He can't seem to resist teasing the gorgeous doctor who pushes all of his buttons. And the searing hot kisses they share are turning him inside out. As she begins to work with Gabe, helping former vets recover from severe PTSD with the aid of some wild Mustangs, Mia finds herself becoming more like the person she used to be. She never expected to alter her life plans, and definitely never expected to fall for anyone, least of all the handsome Gabe. But fate and some lucky red boots have a way of changing things. As their lives become more complicated, will Mia and Gabe's love be enough to smooth the way to a happily ever after? Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |

Here we find Mia back in NY, at work and get filled in a little more as to what goes on in Mia's world. Rory, sweet 10 yr old little boy, whom Mia met when she treated his mother. A mother who became hooked on prescription drugs and then had the misfortune to develop cancer while in jail. Rory brings out the human side of Mia and turns her into someone you can root for.
Now Mia is planning on getting a surgical residency that will enable her to fulfill her ultimate goal of getting the "dream job"....but when time comes her no-nonsense approach to doing things bites her in the behind. They are not only looking for a strong doctor but a compassionate one. One who could rally the troops and be a great leader. Mia has never been known as the soft and cuddly type so....there slips away the last step to her ultimate goal. Now what?
Back home, on a semi-forced vacation, Mia starts to find herself again. Gabe Harrison, whom we know from the first book, is the patient advocate that drove Mia crazy every time and anytime she tried to get information on her sister's Joely's medical condition, benefits, or treatment. Now though...with her life in the unknown she let's him in and learns, maybe he's not such a PITA after all. She meets his merry band of misfits, Veterans that has issues and he's come up with an experimental program to see if he can get them back on track. Mia bonds with them and teaches Gabe that maybe working with animals, in particular wild mustangs, might be the way to go with these tough cases.
At any rate, things happen...some tragic some just a part of life. But in the end we get our HEA. It's not a safe journey or even a all the time happy one. They go through bumps and bruises that every relationship gets from time to time; it just teaches them about themselves and what it is they want from one another. A good story that I well enjoyed and now am looking forward to reading Joely's story. (She's the sister involved in the horrible traffic accident that started the bonding between the sisters.) ( )
