Philosophical semantics is not at all my forte, and it may be that I'm totally philistining on this, but it seems deeply minor to me. Sellars's main point seems to be that meaning is not a reference relation but a copular relation, because to say e.g. "und means and in German" is to say "unds are ands in German." Fine (really, not so fine, because it presumes a theory of word–idea relation that is referential through and through, rooted in Locke); but so what? Synthese.
