This book is really good for people that are looking for ways to change their perspective on their work. It may even work well for people that are experiencing burnout. Maybe. ( )

Over all a good book. While it does on many occasions cover familiar ground, the author has included enough new material and written it in a unique manner to make the read enjoyable. ( )

I really enjoyed this book. The author really packed a lot of well-researched, useful information in it. He touched on so many issues I have been thinking about. I would like to see more employers value their employees and more employees enjoying their work. Wonderful! ( )

Many people used to think that a good leader, or a good boss, was someone who was authoritative, firm, and could easily make any decisions and solve any problems that were brought to him/her. A good working environment was a very formal, professional, 9 to 5 sort of place.

This book, The Driven Organization, challenges those beliefs. The author presents some big new ideas on how to have happier, loyal employees and how to build an environment that encourages those employees to be creative and possibly even change your industry for the better.

The main points of the book are summarized by S.P.A.C.E.S (Salary, Purpose, Autonomy, Competence, Environment, Strategy). The suggestions given were interesting and helped me to understand why I liked or disliked certain jobs in my past.

What I most appreciated about the book was the easy to read style, and the real businesses operating today that are using most of these suggestions (such as Whole Foods and Zappos.com). Real life examples are the most interesting and motivating for me to understand and follow.

As an employee this book will help me to make suggestions in the work place, and gives me ideas of what to look for in the future if I should change jobs. I think this book would provide the most benefit to managers and business owners who are looking for ways to make positive changes for the benefit of their business and employees.

(I received a copy of this book for review purposes.) ( )
