This book was about a girl and her mother who are hiking through the desert to their campsite. Along the way, the girls mother teaches her about the plants and canyons. This is a good book to teach children how to enjoy nature, but also respect it. ( )

This was a good book. I loved the way that the illustrations were so realistic. I also really liked all of the plants the book explained. The book also talked about all of the rocks in the desert and the Utes Indians. This would be such a good book to use when doing a unit on the Southwest. It would also be great to use if you ever talk about the Utes Indians. I think that students who have never been to the desert would really love to learn about it through this book. ( )
