My 10 year old (and fan of Dork Diaries and Captain Underpants) loved it. The illustrations were great. I'd check out the rest of the series. Tom Gates: Extra Special Treats (Not) by [Pichon, L.]I was given this book by the publisher in exchange for my honest review. This book is so much fun to read. I love when I read a book and I catch myself laughing out loud at parts. Tom Gates wants to receive a Star Pupil badge. Along the way he comes across other special treats such as days off because of heating problems at school, visits with the "Fossils" (his grandparents) and hidden treats. Throughout the story L. Pichon places little illustrations that would catch every kids imagination. The doodles and drawing are as much fun as the story. I could see this book being ideal for 4th through 6th grade students. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. My eight year old niece is in love with the Tom Gates series of books. I think it's perfect for kids who are transitioning between picture books and chapter books because it is full of illustrations and comic fonts that make it a bit more approachable than a wall of text for a child just getting used to longer strings of text while reading. I think this one might be her favorite of the series so far, but I only skimmed them myself and can't really speak much on the plot and whether or not you would have to read the others in the series first. My impression is no though. I enjoyed this book. the characters are well developed. My granddaughter said, "Ya know, he's like a real kid." In this adventure, Tom Gates is dealing with a new neighbor, snow days, his relatives who are stranded at his house, his grandparents' 50th anniversary, and his nemesis winning a star pupil badge all while trying to earn one for himself! I love how he doodles his way through the story. Well done Liz Pichon! aucune critique | ajouter une critique

It's really cold outside and we're all hoping it's going to snow. Yeah! Derek and I could make a snow Rooster and have a snowball fight (look out, Delia!). Granny Mavis has started to knit me a new winter jumper, but by the looks of things I'm not sure it's going to fit ... Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |

My favourite character is Tom Gates because he is just hilarious. The only character I don't like is Marcus. He's been in all the books and is so annoying!
I really like that there are instructions to make something cool at the end of each book. I haven't tried any of them yet, but I will soon. ( )
