Fiction. Romance. HTML:

Falling for the bad boy is even more dangerous the second time around.

The McLaughlins, Book 1

In high school Sarah fell for her best friend's older brotherâ??one of the sexy, Scottish McLaughlin boys. But a painful betrayal showed her she'd been a fool to give her heart to a bad boy. At least it made it easier to leave him and move halfway around the world when her Navy dad got stationed in Japan.

Eleven years later, the death of her grandmother has forced Sarah back to Whidbey Island for a month. It's the length of time she must stay in her inherited house before she's allowed to sell it, take the money and run. But when she sees Ian, bad as ever and still looking like sin on a stick, she can't keep her mouth from watering.

One look at Sarah stirs up the regret lingering in Ian's heartâ??and never-forgotten desire lingering in his body. He should walk away, especially since divorced single mothers aren't his style. But when she starts showing up at his family's pub, he can't resist a little casual seduction for old time's sake.

One thing quickly becomes clear, though. The heat between them is causing an avalanche of secrets and betrayal and nothing will ever be the same.

Warning: A bad-boy hero who's good with his hands, a heroine who's trying to be good. Contains liberal consumption of Scotch whisky, a Highland Games competition, men in kilts wielding large poles, and a potential Sarah McLaughlin of the non-musical kind… (plus d'informations)

**I received a copy of this book from LibraryThing Early Reviewers in exchange for an honest voluntary review. All opinions are my own and not influenced by my source.**

If I hadn't guessed the main plot twist by the end of the first chapter, my review might be different.

For me, this book was very predictable and that dampened my experience. The big secret about their past was super obvious to me. But I went with the flow anyways because they do have a complicated past. But every time a new "twist" was hinted at, I correctly guessed the outcome every single time. It just took away some of the tension and anticipation.

I also struggled with the romance itself. It drove me NUTS how Ian would just go ahead and kiss her when she wasn't expecting it or clearly giving him "no" vibes. I like a confidence hero but Ian's ego could take up the entire planet. Which made it so hard for me to believe that he would give up his charmed playboys ways for Sarah. We don't get to see a lot of their conversations because most of the time they're so focused on the physical aspect of their relationship. I couldn't tell you why they thought they were soul mates besides great sexual chemistry.

Unfortunately, the ending also felt rushed to me. I definitely would have liked that drama to be teased out more and in the first half of the novel to give some depth.

One More Round (The McLaughlins Book 1) by Shelli Stevens

Sweet and fun romance with a lot of heart. I absolutely loved this book and ended up reading it in one (very late) night. Never having read a Shelli Stevens book before, I wasn't sure what to expect. However, I was very pleasantly surprised at what she managed to pack into this book.

High school lovers Sarah and Ian are thrown back together after eleven long years apart. Their breakup was messy and left them with a lot of baggage but they've both managed to move on with their lives. Now Sarah is back in town to take care of her Grandmother's estate and they discover that eleven years haven't changed anything. How Ian and Sarah reconcile their past and plan for their future makes for a great plot and an engaging read.

I enjoyed reading about Ian and Sarah - I thought they were both extremely well written and well rounded characters. And who could resist the rest of the McLaughlins? Ian's brothers and sister are fantastic characters and I look forward to reading about the rest of the McLaughlin clan in the future. I hope to be able to read another book by Shelli Stevens soon.

I received a free copy of this book for an honest review. ( )

Ian and Sarah dated in high school, but one night changed everything. Eleven years later, Sarah is back on the island. This is a story of second chances, forgiveness and love. I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading the next in the series. I received a copy of this for an honest review. ( )

Received an ARC at no cost to author. I had read this story years ago but it was under another name, however when I saw this I still requested it, I enjoyed back then, and I enjoyed it now. Sarah had broken up with Ian years ago, when she found him in bed with one of her best friends Hailey, she was so angry that she said some horrible things to him, I can't say that I blamed her, I would have been upset too. Ian is a known bad boy, and now he is a manslut, he thought he could see Sarah again and not have any feelings, boy was he wrong. Ian wasn't really nice to Sarah when he sees her again, but all the feelings he had for her returned and he admitted to himself he never stopped loving her. Sarah never stopped loving Ian, but she is keeping a huge secret from him, how will he react?..Well my friends you need to read. And as always, Enjoy!! ( )

A very cute romance. Involving hot Scottish men an a beautiful island. Nothing crazy unique about the story but it is well written. Only thing about this book I cannot get over is how the main character kept her child from the father for ten years.
