Manara is famously known for drawing impossibly beautiful women often found in rather awkward or painful situations and this volume does not disappoint. The art is published as line drawings, no color, which makes it all that much easier to appreciate Manara's outstanding skills. As mentioned in another review, the stories involve rape and sexual manipulation so it's a bit misleading to characterize the book as erotica in today's world, but that classification was an editorial decision and not the responsibility of the artist. The drawings are gorgeous and sexually explicit, but making the stories disturbing was surely Manara's intent. As with all art, how it is judged by those who see it is subjective. 5 stars. ( )
