Some incredible stories here. Sometimes fiction movies cram years of incidents into the course of perhaps a single day. This book gave me that same feeling—but it is true! How could one person survive all of this? The author's resolute claims of being apolitical, as he fights for the Nazis, strike me as suspicious, and perhaps I should be equally suspicious of the rest of the book. But it feels real, generally. The book loses some momentum in the second half. Very good story of WWII German U-Boat action told by a former German Navy captain. Interesting to me as I've read several WWII accounts, but this is the first one I've read from the German perspective. A long read, but it is thorough and complete with appendices and a glossary of naval terms. Highly recommended. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
The former German U-boat commander Herbert Werner navigates readers through the waters of World War II, recounting four years of the most significant and savage battles. By war's end, 28,000 out of 39,000 German sailors had disappeared beneath the waves. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
