Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. The focus here is on endurance. This book is directed specifically at sports training. Most of the book is focused on detailed and well illustrated drills, which will generally improve your endurance, but it also has quite a few drills specifically designed for individual types of activities. The authors also cover the factors contributing to endurance, but not in great depth. Most of this books is focused on techniques and practice.Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. This book is a compendium of information on exercise data and prgrams for developing enudurance in sports which require it. The prime sports with chapters devoted to them are: running, swimming, cycling, and triathlon. I am a racewalker, which has some kinship to running, and does require endurance, particularly if you want to particpate in championship events. There are separate contributos for each of the 11 chapters and I will briefly describe each one.1. 'Physiology of Endurance Sport Training' introduces the science of sort endurance as it relates to energy dynamics, cardiopulmonary physiology, and skeletal muscles. Of particular interest is the look at the three energy systems in the human body: anaerobic, divided into immediate (ATP-CP) & short-term (glucose), and aerobic (long-term oxidative phosphorytation). 2. 'Endurance Tests and Assessments' deals with movement analysis, testing types, and aerobic endurance measures. Charts give sample time trials to determine intensity levels for swimming, cycling, and running. 3. 'Endurance Training Principles and Considerations' developes ideas of recovery-based training, where various levels of intensity in training are organized in a periodization effort. Concepts of overloading versus overtraining, and tapering and peaking are discussed as well as stretching, injury prevention, and environmental condtions. 4. 'Endurance Sport Nutrition and Hydration' speaks to the need for macro- and micro-nutrients, but does not specify a singular diet. Attention is given to female athlete needs.
