I wanted to welcome everyone who has joined this group. I'm really glad that we have several Canadians who have accepted the challenge. I've been wanting to add the Canadian Provinces ever since the 50 states group came along because I've enjoyed the books I've read over the years with Canadian settings. I hope everyone will continue to chime in with good reads from each territory and province.

>1 thornton37814: Thank you for starting this group!! Very exciting.

Is this a "the more the merrier" kind of group? It would be fun to invite LT friends from around the world to join. After all, CanLit has so much more to offer than just Atwood and Life of Pi!

#2 Well, they let me join the group, so I can't imagine there being any reason everyone else wouldn't also be welcome. ;-)

And perspectives from other countries can add to the conversation.

>2 starfishian: This is certainly "the more, the merrier." Sorry I've been delinquent in replying. I have 4 conference presentations next week and have been busy getting things finalized!

We've found at least a few books for everywhere except Nunavut, Labrador and PEI. Is everyone afraid of mentioning Lucy Maud Montgomery?

If you know of a book set in, or written by an author from these places, please post a title in the appropriate thread!

Wonderful idea!! I'm ashamed to admit that, somehow, I missed the announcement of this group. I'm already doing the 50 states challenge and the European one but do occasionally read Canadian books as well, particularly mysteries and books about hockey.

It would be great to branch out beyond those types of books, though.

Welcome Linda. I'm sure there must be a few baseball books as well!

I think there was a Canadian author who wrote baseball mysteries, the best of all possible worlds.

If I'm remembering right, Alison Gordon has written 5 or 6 of these Canadian baseball mysteries and I've read only a few of them.

If you want a baseball story by a Canadian author, there's Shoeless Joe, which was turned into the movie Field of Dreams. The book isn't set in Canada though.

I've just started Mrs. Mike, which is a reread for me, but I had completely forgotten how well written it was.
