50 states plus DC. The territories are in my Global challenge.

Categories:
1. Fiction - 3 books per state, 1 book per author and/or series allowed
2. Non-fiction - 1 book per state
3. Bonus categories - 1 entry per state

Rules for this one:
1. A book counts only in one state.
2. For fiction - the book is either set in the state completely OR the out of State time is minimal
3. For non-fiction - the book is only about this one state or a city/event in the state (or in the territories that are now part of the state).
4. For the Journals/Magazines - the publisher's state counts
5. For Poetry - any poet from the state regardless of the type of poetry they write.

Start: 10 December 2021 (or whenever I finish the first eligible book after that).

You always think of interesting ways to organize your lists. I'm looking forward to following you on this journey as well.

Apparently not only I had been ignoring this thread but I had not been reading a lot of US based books as well. Filled in the few that I match something above.

But while I was away, I decided on my second Bonus category - Poetry :) That will be fun to fill...

I am also strongly considering switching the state-mash to Magazines and Journals from the state - I am in "try new literary magazines" mood and that would be an interesting way to find out some new ones...

>7 AnnieMod: Two interesting ideas for broadening the challenge. I don't seem to read a lot of US lit, so I'm having trouble reading one fiction and one nonfiction.

>8 labfs39: Despite my abysmal statistics so far, I am looking at the non-fiction as a way to learn more about USA - past and present. It may not work for someone who was born and grew up in it but I did not :)

Just one fiction per state is enough for me for the present!
