I’m looking at buying a copy of Folio 60 but there are rumours of a Folio 75, I also read that Folio 75 might only be digital, anybody know anymore than that? Thanks.😁

There's currently no evidence of plans by FS to produce Folio 75 as a physical book, and even if they did it would be unlikely to include all the editions covered in detail from 1947-2006 by Folio 60. Owing to the now enormous number of publications that have accumulated in the FS library since 1947, if Folio 75 were to be published as a physical book it would likely comprise only the years 2007-2021.

Thank you for your reply, I was hoping for an answer that pushed me towards purchasing so I am not unhappy! 😁

Quite apart from its usefulness, Folio 60 is pretty impressive as a book, in paper quality and in the number of illustrations of various types.
The online continuation was supposed to take place a couple of years ago, and there have been recent whisperings (nobody at FS rumbles) that nirvana is nigh, perhaps in response to plans on this site to do the job for them. Buy the book, if you can find one that hasn't been referred to death.

Thank you, I bought a good copy, fingers crossed for a nice Folio 2007-2021 Companion book to follow from them! 🙏🏻

I've heard that Folio 75 will be printed in China on the finest ultra-smooth, extra glossy paper using the finest toner, coinciding with FS's release of their collector's edition set of the best Harlequin romance novels.

Just for a bit of further enablement: I have both Folio 60 and Folio 50 and whereas Folio 60 has just three articles on different aspects of FS, Folio 50 has at least 10 articles, some by well-known FS illustrators. So if you are interested in FS history, I would highly encourage purchasing Folio 50, too (which also features about 20 pages of color photos at the beginning of the book--Folio 60 has a few colored illustrations throughout the book but nothing like the full-size colored photos).

I've heard they're beginning to get nervous about all the criticism against printing in China, so from next year they're abandoning print altogether and moving to an exclusive Kindle-based output, publishing only sci-fi and fantasy: "Classics within the reach of Everytechie in a format worthy of the contents."

C'mon folks - this silliness is getting out of hand. I'm not excited about the Chinese printings, or the Marvel comics stuff, but FS still manages to publish such wonderful editions as the recent A Man On the Moon, and Creators, Conquerors, and Citizens. All is not lost.

Mea culpa! Originality and humour were never my strong points. At least I have the consolation of my eagerly awaited order of You Only Live Twice, A Man on the Moon, and Creators, Conquerors & Citizens.

I find you both original and funny :-)
Don't ever apologise for well-directed satire. Satire is not meant to be accurate, but exaggerated to make a point. If the FS editorial team see enough such satire, hopefully it will help them realise that not everyone is 100% enamoured of some of their recent decisions. And maybe that influences publication choices such as those in the spring catalogue, which is one of the most interesting for quite a while. OK, Captain America seems a bit pointless, but the collection was interesting enough for me to make a full price order direct from FS for the first time in over 5 years. Nights at the Circus, The Road, Around the World (plus Noughts and Crosses for my daughter). And A Man on the Moon and Creators, Conquerers and Citizens on my wish list for future sales (as I think these will both inevitably find their way into).
Who knows what the future holds for FS and for us long standing fans. But I suspect it would not be good for many of us if all we saw here was gushing praise for every new comic book release and "seventh-rate" fantasy title (to quote the late and very great Ursula le Guin, a true master of first-rate fantasy) that FS may or may not publish in the future.

Boldface you are very funny and have been quite the defuser of many a squabble over the years using your wit and wisdom. Keep it up.
Regarding China, I do like drinking my tea from it, but other than that I'm not a fan.

I've just received my copy of Folio 50, (bought from a charity for the price of, well, not much more than 2 cups of coffee) - what a lovely book and ...well, quite impressive in size! I'm in the process of reading the essays and dipping into the bibliography.
I have the Folio 60 on order and may look out for the the other volumes.
I would like to believe that the society would publish an addendum to Folio 60 in book form.
I have to add my thanks, to many, for >6 wcarter: reviews, as I wouldn't have searched out these volumes otherwise.

As would many of us. I haven't given up hope. Glad you\re enjoying Folio 50 - it's an underrated gem. Folio 60, which sits permanently by my side while I'm at the computer, is my constant reference. More comprehensive than 50, but 50 has the essays...

>21 folio_books: I am really enjoying the book.
I'm sure much of my enjoyment comes from feelings of nostalgia. The late 90s was the start of when I could purchase a few volumes (4), augmented with renewal of membership offers; sale volumes; 'mystery' packages.
Today, I enjoy hunting down out of print volumes, at a reasonable price (!!!), that I couldn't afford at the time.

I've had the Folio 60 for a long time and hadn't bothered about the Folio 50 but then read an a thread by wcarter comparing all the releases. My Folio 50 arrived this morning from Adelaide and it is beautiful in its own right. I paid AUD$57 including delivery which I suspect is less than what I paid for Folio 60 some years ago. Very happy to have both.
