Any thoughts on Hero’s escape?

Wow. What a woman.
How stupid was Sullivan to let a prisoner loose on a pan of scalding water - Hero did just what I'd expect her to do with that. But to slit his throat? She's definitely made of the right stuff to help St. Cyr in his adventures.

She was brilliant. I could see she was going to scald him, but the throat slitting was an added bonus.

She was nearly unbelievable. I knew she wasn't the average woman of that era but that was...breath taking. It also got the book a higher rating from me. Sebastian better tow the mark if he knows what's good for him. No one is going to walk over this lady.

I liked that she was able to save herself and take matters into her own hands. But knifing two of the men without much trouble didn’t ring true to me.

>6 gaylebutz: Me either...but you have to admit she got the job done.

>2 Sergeirocks: I agree. She's always shown that she was not the typical simpering miss. The way she asked Sebastian to investigate the home for "soiled doves" or the way she reacted to Sebastian during that kidnapping showed us that she's tough.

>6 gaylebutz: while it was extreme, I think Hero realized that she needed to do what she must to get out of the situation. The fact that the men had killed Marie in front of her (and made the comment about keeping his fly buttoned) told her that she was short on time.

Not having read the previous books in the series I was not aware of just how tough Hero could be. Her actions genuinely shocked me although given her desperate situation were understandable.

>9 Maura49: Hero...throughout the previous books... was always head strong and did things that a woman in that era, and especially one of her station, wouldn't have dared to do.
