I see the newest addition to the series is Fanning's Narrative. Unfamiliar with it, I see via Wikipedia it looks to be a fascinating account of life as an extraordinary sailor during the American Revolution. Anyone get a copy already?

I just placed a bid on a copy. We’ll see how it goes.

After getting outbid multiple times I finally bit the bullet and did "buy it now" for $25. It seems all the other ebay auctions kept running it above $30-40. Argh. I've typically found all my old Lakeside Classics in the $10-15 range.

Interesting! Signs of the series warming up, or is it just a really great title this year?

Interesting that there’s no longer any mention of R. R. Donnelly on the copyright page.

>7 varielle: Never mind the copyright page, even the front cover design is different. The Indian Head logo is still there, but "R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company" is no longer above the logo. Instead it says "LSC Communications." LSC is a spin-off company or something. It stands for Lake Side Classics. Their website says: "Just as great traditions evolve over time, so have we and starting in 2017, LSC Communications will carry on the legacy of the Lakeside Classics. Though the books are given solely as gifts, they are considered to be valuable among rare book collectors. In fact, Lakeside Classics is the only work still published under the Lakeside Press imprint, and is now the longest running, continuous series of books in America and possibly the world."

I guess that's ok for them. I always had a soft spot for Donnelley because I once worked as a temp in one of their printing plants when I was in school.

>9 varielle: Yes, somehow "R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company" seems more classically appealing to me than the uninspired "LSC Communications."

Does anyone have a photo of this new cover?

>11 benjclark: Yes, you can find the book Fanning's Narrative in my collection, it has the new book cover depicted.

Jumping into the discussion. I actually work for Donnelley (now RRD) for about 4 years now, and have built an entire collection of Classics (1903-2018). Up until a couple of years ago the series was printed by R.R. Donnelley, and this is reflected on the cover logo and title page. Then the company split into three separate companies, and LSC Communications was the part that continued to print the series (there are two volumes under this name). In November 2018, Quad/Graphics bought up LSC Communications. I am unsure if Quad will continue printing the series but my money is that they will.

Also, I am sure that the increased cost for the latest books is due to small print runs. When the books were still print by Donnelley I got one each December. Now I need to search for them since I don't work for the side of the company producing the books.
