What are your thoughts about Safia? Should she be carrying all this guilt?

No. Sometimes things happen and it is out of everyone's control.

I've been reading quite a few books lately with protagonists suffering from massive martyr complexes. They like to wallow in their own misery.

I believe part of her guilt trip is that she feels "unworthy". She grew up in luxury and had the best schools...she had a better life than her people. Shouldn't feel guilty but I think she does. "Martyr complex" fits her perfectly.

>5 EadieB: Ah yes...that also. Maybe we should get her a spot on Dr, Phil:)

She seems to feel guilty for everyone's death, Ryan was in the security services, this was a risk he took - she can hardly be to blame for his death. Definitely think she is taking things too far! She needs to look at things more rationally.

I like Lynda's description: "wallow in their own misery". I'd say this fits Safia to a T.

>7 Andrew-theQM: I agree. She's irritating me at the moment with all of her "I'm to blame" act.
