Woman's husband leaved on a boat or something leaving her at home with their daughter (I think) there is a reason she embarks on a journey to go to court - not the legal one - during this trip they are staying in a house or hotel type place and men break in.
They threaten to rape her daughter and she submits to them so they will leave her daughter alone.
I remember something about her feeling ashamed that her body began to respond to the physical sensations of the rape.
She gets to court and possibly becomes the lover of a rich man.
She is very dislikes by many of the women.
I think her husband finds her there, or she returns home to him.

I really feel like there is Fortune in the title or in the heroines name.

I remember her daughter being angry with her because she she physically responded to being raped.
Sex is an almost addictive thing for this heroine.
