- The books featured in this library are designed to assist teachers in teaching, planning, and researching for their courses at Humboldt College at Xian International Studies University. Part of the reason in creating this library is so that future teachers can assess whether their are resources missing from it they might need, or if the library already contains the same books they are considering bringing with them to China.

- Humboldt College is a program that is designed to prepare Chinese college students for future study in Humboldt State University. It is taught by U.S. teachers and faculty who attempt to provide students with an educational experience that will smooth their transition to life in the U.S. while giving them academic credit for the courses they take through Humboldt College. In this respect, HC functions as an English for Academic Purposes/English for Specific Purposes program.
