Established in 2000 to honour the memory of Sandra Fraser Gwyn. The prize is awarded to the best literary work in any genre by either a native Newfoundlander or Labradorian, or someone who has afficher plus been a resident in the province for the previous 12 months. BMO began sponsoring the Winterset Award in 2010, doubling it's cash value to $10,000 for the winner. Each year three finalists comprise the shortlist for the Winterset Award for Excellence in Newfoundland Writing. (English, Member-written)
