From the sword in the stone and the founding of Camelot to the famed Knights of the Round Table and the Lake of Enchantment, the legend of King Arthur endures. All the classic stories--including King Arthur's marriage to Guinevere and Merlin's tragic downfall at the hands of his enemy, Vivien--are included in this vibrant retelling.

Follow Pinnochio in this classic tale of learned wisdom and love. This version is easily understood with great illustrations on most every page. This is not the Disney Pinnochio, it is the original tale. Every young person should know this story for its rich lessons in morality and education and resounding message of love for your parents.

This story is about a puppet maker that makes a puppet and names him Pinocchio but then he turns into a real boy. My favorite part about this story is how Pinocchio's nose grows when he lies. This story would be a great story to tell to lower elementary to teach them the consequences of lying.

Peter Pan is one of those books that you pick up and don't want to put down. On her last night in the family nursery Wendy is told that she will now have a room of her own and that it is time that she grew up. Her mother is a romantic, dreamy sort who to me seemed a little
scatterbrained however from Barrie's description tends to be budget aware like Mr Darling as they are both very poor and trying to live up to the standards of the neighbors - hence Nana the "nurse" (a St Bernard).

The actual story and the introduction of Peter Pan takes place on the last night of Wendy's stay in the nursery. Peter arrives to hear one of her stories (about him of course) and upon hearing of her delemma ends up teaching Wendy and her brothers, John and Michael, how to fly and then takes them to Neverland.

As the story goes on you meet "The Lost Boys", Hook the Pirate, a tribe of Indians and many more characters. There are parts of the book that of course never made it in the movies - it would be much too long if they did. As always I strongly encourage parents to read the classics (the original if your kids will listen to them). Disney doesn't tend to stay on script and much of the story is left out. Your kid's should definitely hear the story in it's entirety.

Pinocchio has long been one of my favorites. I received a set of 4 records with 8 classics stories when I was 8 and one of the stories was Pinocchio and I've loved that story ever since. This is the story of Pinocchio, a little puppet boy made of wood who has great adventures and yearns to be a "real" boy.

The book itself includes other adventures not included in the movie. And your kid's will love following along with Pinocchio's adventures as he learns about being honest, obedient and love. Much of Pinocchio's problems start with curiosity and peer pressure just like you're kid's. But ultimately his love of Geppeto and his need to obey wins over taunts and encouragement from his new found "friends" to do what he thinks he wants to do.

Pinocchio is a great 2nd book to read to your child. Each chapter is almost a story in itself and you can begin working with your child on their reading comprehension and on remembering what happened during your last reading session. There are parts of the book that might be a little scary for your children so you may want to read it first.

You can read the whole of my review including information about the author at:

Peter Pan is a young boy who never wants to grow up. One night he visits the home of the Darling family and convinces the Darling children, Wendy, John, and Michael, to travel with him to the magical land of Neverland. There the children never age and have many adventures with the other inhabitants of Neverland, inlcuding the honrable Indians and the vicious pirates. The pirate captain Hook has a personal grudge to settle with Peter and the Darling children soon find themselves caught in the middle of their war. Eventually Peter is able to fight off the pirates and the Darling children return home to live their lives while Peter becomes a fixture in the lives of future generations of Darling children.
