The Ecumenical Decade of the Churches in Solidarity with Women called on all the memebr churches of the World COuncil of Churches to look for ways that would empower women in both church and society, challenging oppresive structures, affirming teh contribution women made to church and society and generally encouraging churches to take actions in solidarity with women.

Responding to this call, the Uniting Church of Australia established the Commission on Women and Men (1990) with a mandate to provide a vision for creative use o0f the gifts of women and men today.

This book, "Colours True and Splendid", is a resource and a record that looks back over the Decade. Initiated as a 'Patchwork Project', the book gathers the experience of the Commission and offers it to the Australian church as a record and a celebration of what was accomplished.

The book recalls the highs and lows of how women experienced the Decade within the Uniting Church and with worship, poetry and story, acknowledges what has been achieved and what needs yet to be done.… (plus d'informations)
