I'm sitting here, trying to find the words to tell you how much I loved this book. Kershin and Rosh are amazing, and I love that there are sparks of more than one kind flying between them from the moment they meet. Hessia made me crazy, but I could understand her need to succeed, and I was curious about her absolute hatred of mages from the moment we met her, as it seemed to be stronger than her fellow truists; (I wanted the story behind what's mentioned in the blurb). Honestly, I really enjoyed how all the characters, even the minor ones and those we met in passing, felt real, with motivations and feelings of their own. The world was so well-developed I could see, hear, feel, and even smell it surround me. The dual plots wove in great tension, and moved along smoothly together. After reading this I need to check out more of the author's work, as I was absolutely blown away by this book as a whole!
